I've had the occasion a couple of times during the last few months to have to uninstall and reinstall FCPX . I've done the manual uninstall of moving the app to the trash along with trashing the appropriate folders and files from Application support, Preferences and Cache. The app was purchased through App Store of course so I return there, sign in, click "Purchases" and download/install FCPX.
In prior searching for "how to uninstall FCPX" I landed on the Apple Support page which had this note:
"If you are reinstalling (restoring) a copy of Final Cut Pro X from a backup, you have two options. Choose one of the following: Simply drag the application back from its storage location to your Applications folder."
BTW - the second option offered was to restore from Time Machine . . .
So, is it possible to just copy a current version of FCPX to an external drive, cloud folder, USB thumb drive and then "simply drag the application . . . to the Application folder."?
I realize I'm asking the obvious . . . but is it really that simple to bypass the App Store to install FCPX once you've made a legitimate purchase?
