OK, so what's your editing approach when your clip changes from the correct exposure to an awful orange because you stupidly shifted the camera during an indoor shoot?
Do you use the splice tool, then edit the new clip? Seems tricky. But any way seems tricky--and hard to imagine unnoticeable.
Thank you!

Duplicate the clip and position it in sync above the original. Correct each clip for the colour balance /exposure preferred. Adjust opacity from one clip (0% to 100%) to the other clip to time with the colour balance shift. Might take some trial and error to get the timing and duration of the opacity transition working seamlessly. It may not be perfect but hopefully will be an improvement on the original clip. It may not work at all if the original colour shift is too extreme!

You can try this set of colour grading tools. The colour corrector is built in motion, and it's keyframe-able.

I used it on a timelapse shot from the ISS, taken with a DSLR set to auto exposure. Because of variations in earth reflection, the frames varied in exposure, so I had to adjust exposure/contrast for almost every frame to make it seamless. Keyframing each adjustment with the colour corrector worked pretty well.

Blade the clip where it changes.
Give each its own appropriate color correction.
Place a cross fade transition there, change its duration as is nesessary.

The Color Board doesn't do keyframes, that's the problem. You'd think after all this time they'd have keyframes in the Color Board.

there are several workarounds to use keyframes....I'm sure a quick search will reveal ways.
i.e. core melt has keyframes, magic bullets has keyframes, etc...
thats what i meant...

Color Finale Pro has no keyframing yet. Not sure MB has it either, haven't used that in ages.

Both Alex4D's color effects (
blog.alex4d.com/fcpx/
) and HyColorPro (
www.hyfx.tv/hycolourpro/
) have luma and color effects that are keyframeable. Having that ability can be very handy.

Just sayin'. And it's free, so there's that.

Even if you could keyframe in the color grade thingy, I wouldn't recommend doing it. Why not? Because the pucks would all travel in a straight line from one keyframe to the other, passing through who knows what other colors. This would potentially create some weird-looking video. The long cross dissolve between two independently color-corrected clips will achieve much better and more natural results.

I used to keyframe color grades in FCPX legacy and Color all the time. Do it in DaVinci too. You can screw it up if you're not carful, but it's the contract and exposure controls that are most often keyframed. Keyframing color grades is pretty essential. Always has been. Ask any professional colorist.

I used to kick and scream about the lack of key frames for the color board and in Color Finale. Magic Bullet has always struck me as a slow beast in FCPX, negating it's ability to key frame. So finally, I've adapted to the blade/dissolve approach in FCPX. It does work, though I would still prefer key frames.
