Adjusting Part of a clip

Adjusting Part of a clip was created by owleyes
I was just wondering if its possible to color adjust a portion of a clip, or do I need to use the blade to cut it into a smaller clip? I tried selecting a range in the timeline and brightening it up, but it lightened the whole clip. Am I doing it wrong.?
BTW, if there's a better area for beginners to post questions, please direct me.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
When you are using the built-in Color Correction effect, you will indeed need to blade the clip or use an overlay if you only want to apply the correction to part of the clip.
When you are using specialized color correction tools such as Color Finale, Hawaiki Color or similar plugins, you can use the keyframe controls of these plugins to only apply your correction to part of the clip.
