Crop help, transition magic and Resolve Round Trip

I just finished editing a collection of music videos. I'm trying to get the projects loaded into resolve but am seeing a problem with my crops that have been applied. Many clips were cropped using ctrl-c crop, so they have the equivalent of scale and position I guess. When Resolve loads the FCPX XML file version 1.6 (fcpx 10.3 & resolve 12.5.4) all of my cropped clips appear to be the equivalent of FCPX trim crops. The clip is cut to the FCPX viewable portion bot not scaled and positioned to center within the project. At first I thought It might be an interpretation of the XML that would (resolve) itself on the round trip back to FCPX, but the files were rendered with the different crop. So Now I am a bit confused. is there a setting or something I might be missing that would allow the crop to be interpreted the same way between the two programs? I doubt I'm the first person to run into the issue but I haven't found an adequate answer via search.

Also with a separate issue, there is a specific point my client wanted a ripple transition, but every time I have tried to apply the transition it undoes the crop of the outgoing clip within the length of the transition. I should have posted while at home to provide image examples but I hope my description is good enough. Thanks in advance for any input.

What I would do is just download or make black bars that you can put over the clips in the storyboard. This way you don't have to use the crop affect. The ripple transition will also work without removing the black bars

Thanks for the feedback, though I'm not using crop in trim mode to create the black bars as an effect, doing the opposite where the video is positioned and scaled. I'll upload screen shots today to illustrate.
