Why Can't I Delete Cuts?

Since the FCPX upgrade I have found that I cannot delete cuts. When I try to do so the footage is removed but I'm left with a blank box which I cannot delete. The only thing I can do is roll it back but this seems ridiculous and time consuming.

I'm sure there is a reason for this and a way I can remove the segment I want to delete.

In the image you will see a blank box that is left after I cut the clip out. Why can I not delete the whole box?

Can you show the whole timeline pane? I can't reproduce this problem, either the gap clip appearing if using the proper delete key, or not being able to remove the gap..

Interesting that you don't have the same issue.

Is this similar to "healing edits" of days of old? I had always wondered if that was available somewhere in FCPX how is it done?

You're selecting a clip with the pointer and press the Delete key? The one next to You can't select the gap if appears and use that key to delete it?

First, trash your prefs. If that fails, try reinstalling the application.

Are you using the forward delete key to remove the clip?

You've cracked it.

0/10 for me for observation but I've been using the delete key on a FCPX keyboard without previously noticing that it also says "Replace with Gap".

When I use the Backspace key which also says "Reject" the clip disappears as expected.
