Import movie. black movie no movie no sound. was created by lisa.schmit-bonker
Hi Everyone
I hope you can help me !!! I have a 2015 MACBOOK PRO and FCPX 10.3.1. I updated FXP on Dec 16 and have imported movies successful until yesterday.
I have been using FCP for about a year now importing movies made with Canon Vixia FH R52..with NO PROBLEMS...
until yesterday.
When I import, the clips are technically there, but it is only black.. no movie no sound. the clips are the correct length.
I rebooted machine, tried importing into iMovie, tried importing to another iMovie on another MAC... NOTHING WORKS>
I imported videos to a PC using window explorers and the videos imported fine. I was then able to import them successfully to FCP.
I shot a few more videos and the same thing is happening.
My software is up to date.
When I go to Finder and go to FCP and show packages, I can see the movies in the original media folder but they only play for few seconds and then stop.
SO this makes me think there is a problem with importing....
Not sure why this is happening NOW....
HELP HELP HELP
THANK YOU !!

Hi Lisa, welcome to the forums.
What worries me is that you say you cannot import your clips on any Mac, either using iMovie or FCP X. This means that the problem is not application-related, but may have something to do with the OS.
Have you updated your Macs to the latest Sierra version between the last time you were able to import correctly and now?
