Compressor Bug?

I started with audio work in recording studios, then on indie films, post, so I've been around, I think I tend to know what should work, and how.

Applying the Compressor on several audio clips, from 3 different Libraries in FCPX (latest version). But instead of reducing the levels, it seems to be BOOSTING the levels. I've taken the same clips into Logic and applied the same Platinum compressor with the same settings. Levels reduced as I fully expected them to be.

Anyone else seeing the current FCPX compressor doing the opposite of what it should do?

I have noticed that the Compressor plug-in which is the same one in Logic, Soundtrack Pro et al behaves slightly differently in FCPX. I'm not sure how. But I can take a clip and apply the filter and then apply the SAME SETTINGS to the same file in, say, Soundtrack Pro. The results are different (and superior) in the external app. So I've been in the habit of doing it there and then importing to FCPX. FCPX seems to do all of it's audio in realtime, It doesn't even render it on export. If you hear hiccups in playback they'll be there on your export. So I try not to use a lot of filters when in the NLE.

That said, make sure you don't have the AUTO GAIN set to 0db.

It has been re-written since STP and isn't the same plugin any longer. I don't consider an STP comparison to anything valid. Sorry, MHO.

I never use auto gain, very foolish thing to do.

Well I don't know what to tell you then. I guess you'll have to do everything in Logic and import into FCPX. The filter looks IDENTICAL in both STP and FCPX but looks completely different in Logic.
