Some generators missing in 10.3

Since upgrading to v. 10.3 I have noticed a couple of the stock generators are not working (Industrial and Pinstripes). I can see the thumbnails, but when I skim over them they turn solid black -- when I import them into a project they have no effect. I had used Industrial in some pre-10.3 projects as title backgrounds, and when I reload those projects into the timeline the generators still appear, but again, they have no effect on the title. The background is just basic black.

I tried uninstalling FCPX and reinstalling it from the App Store, and I tried creating a new Admin user, neither of which worked.

Those two generators alone aren't such huge deals to me, but it makes me wonder if there are other things missing that I just haven't identified yet.

MBP mid-2009, 8GB RAM, FCPX 10.3.1

… just checked - both generators perform as intended on my set-up (MacMini2012/Sierra/10_3).

So, just an assumption: your hardware is a bit… underperforming? Me no specialist, could be an issue, your GPU isn't supported?

Two other things you might try:

1. Reset your FCP X preferences: close FCP X, then launch it again while holding the ALT+CMD keys pressed down. A message will appear asking if you want to delete your FCP X preferences. Confirm and let FCP X launch. See if this helps. If not:

2. Re-install both plugins, making sure that you re installing the latest versions of the plugins.

I have been able to run FCPX on this machine previously -- it has only been since the upgrade to version 10.3 that these generators have been unavailable. Everything else seems to work fine.

I forgot to mention that I reset the preferences using the technique you mention, and that didn't work, either.

I don't think these are plugins -- I think they are a couple of the generators included with FCPX. I went back to a project I created with v. 10.2 and I see the Industrial generator on the timeline, but when I skim over it it has no effect, and when I export the project it doesn't show up.

Thanks for the suggestions! I realize this is a minor problem, but I happen to like the Industrial generator as a title background.

Both stock generators appear and work. They have different names in german. There are some language-related bugs. It seems that in german FCP X versions, there is no "softness" slider in the color mask (used to be literally translated as "Weichheit"). If I switch to english (with an app called language switcher), the slider is there. If I create a library in english ("Mediathek"), use the slider there and later switch to german again, it's still there, but with the english name.
