Hey there, first post; hope you can help.

I'm having the devil of a time with FCPX simply stopping responding to anything I'm doing. IF the video was playing at the time of the error then it continues to play; Final Cut Pro x seems to be working just fine; it just doesn't respond to any commands.

It doesn’t show as not responding in the application monitor, appears to be working fine in the background.

When I select FCP X with the application switcher, nothing happens.

Force Quit is the only way for it to come back to life.

This was happening on my previous Mac a few weeks ago and, while waiting for my touchbar, I bought a brand new Mac and only installed the app and it was behaving that way on that one too. I'm now on a touch bar. This is the second library I've worked on that it's happened with.

Any ideas guys? It KEEPS happening. I'm at my wit's end.

This may or may not be something to do with it.

virtual IOReturn IOGraphicsAccelerator2::newUserClient(task_t, void *, UInt32, IOUserClient **): Too many contexts (270) or command queues (5) created, possibly leaking?

What is the history of the problem? Did it start suddenly or gradually and get more frequent ? Did you install or start using any new FCPX plugin or macOS utilities about that time? How was your data moved to the new machines -- did you restore a Time Machine backup or install FCPX new and just move over the libraries?

If you restored a TM backup, that could have brought over a problem from the previous machine. If it is happening on a clean new machine which you simply installed FCPX on and moved over a library and media files, then evaluate how consistent the problem is and on what drives. IOW does it only happen when using a certain portable drive which you've been using all along? If so can you try another one?

Another possibility is a corrupt or damaged media file. Does the problem only happen with a certain file, library, or codec, or does it happen on many different video files? Do they have anything in common, such as the same codec or coming from the same camera?

I'm facing a vaguely similar problem myself, and there are no easy answers to this type of thing.

I just had FCPX freeze up on me last night for the first time, and it kept playing the timeline. I had to leave it until it hit the end of the timeline (28 minutes). I re-launched and it seemed fine. But very odd...

I had been working on the same Library/Event with the same 4 timelines all day.

I recall having a similar issue, on my side was a resource issue. After rebooting my system it function as advertised.
