FCPX .DAT File? was created by RayPaula
Hi, I will be using FCPX in the near future once I receive my ordered mac to import/edit 4K XAVC L video from my X70. I downloaded the Private file folder from my SDXC card on an external hard drive. I see that the file extension is a .dat file. My question is, will FCPX import this? I expected to see MXF...... I'm not having much luck finding information in regards to the .dat format extension. I don't even see it from the following Apple link
support.apple.com/kb/PH12754?locale=en_US
Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you, Ray

Ok...... I dug deeper in the "Private" folder. Within the folder are several other folders. I opened the folder named "XDROOT" within that folder is another folder called "Clips." I opened that folder and there were all the clips that I shot. I went into the properties of one of the clips and there it was .MXF I feel much more confident now about reformatting my cards. I will of course, keep the entire "Private" folder intact for FCPX on my external hard drive. I.M.O., as far as FCPX injesting directly from the camcorder and/or my external hard drive shouldn't matter as long as everything is intact. I may be wrong and "Please" correct me, if I'm wrong. Thanks for all your input......

Hello Ray,
the Fujifilm X70 is fully supported, read the german camera compatibility list:
support.apple.com/de-de/HT204203
And yes, keep the card structure intact on the drive you copy it to before formatting the card in camera.
