Does anyone on this board understand FCPXML, I've looked at the white paper but am having trouble trying to understand how the xml uses timecode.

Specifically with something like this:

<marker start="361361/100s" duration="1001/24000s" value="Start"/>
<marker start="86773687/24000s" duration="1001/24000s" value="Marker 5"/>

I understand the 1001/24000s represents the frame rate where and the frame length, meaning the duration of each marker is 1 frame on a 24p timeline and if it was 1001/30000s it would be 1 frame in length on a 30p timeline.

What I am trying to do is basically create a script that will take the xml, strip everything out and convert my markers to plain text, in a way that I can import chapter makers into Compressor.

I already own X27 but I really don't want to go into 7 just to do markers.

I am just tossing this out to see if anyone else has any ideas. Until then I will be manually adding the markers in compressor.

I was looking into doing the exact same thing, but I can't figure it out. I do a ton of DVDs with chapters for several clients.

In 10.0.0, you had the option to create a DVD with chapters, which was pointless since there was no way to tell it what the chapters were. Looks like either 10.0.1 or 10.0.2 fixed this by removing the option of creating DVD with chapters.

Nope, 10.0.0 didn't allow chapter markers at all. 7 did, but X never did. I'm looking at a copy of 10.0.0 right now, and there's no option for chapter markers. But in 7, it uses the chapter markers your create in the Sequence. We don't have Timeline markers anymore, so it's just not going to work with clip markers, until we get them back.
