When I import a file in GoPro CineForm intermediate codec, is it usefull (better quality) to generate optimized media? Since I have up to 16 angles (4K) I do cut in proxi mode anyway..

in the FCPX preferences there a checkbox to automatically optimize media for Multicam files, so if you're doing a Multicam you're all covered

Thanks for the fast answer, but I am not concerned about the time to optimize. The question is, is it really necessary. Do I get better quality? I was importing one shoot and after that just the original media and proxi and optimized media from this shoot is 4.8 TB! Yes I have over 70TB on storage, but even this is running low with so much data, and I have to keep the files on that storage for at least 6 months…. So I would like to keep as as slim as possible.

I don't think you'll get better quality, perhaps better performance, if you need your library to be more lightweight then only use proxy, and uncheck the make optimized Multicam files. then edit the Multicam while in proxy mode. if you don't need to edit in proxy, don't transcode at all but let it optimize the Multicam clip

We use various versions of GoPros daily at our station. We find the "fancy" recording formats on it to be a waste of time. Just my two cents.
