How to do this text effect? was created by CBlakeston
I've been asked to duplicate this text effect for a video. It seems pretty straightforward. The individual characters gently vary in opacity (i think) giving a gentle pulsing effect from pure white to off white (see the the H of Hair). I feel like i've seen a similar effect before but can't find anything that comes with FCPX.
I've got pretty close by luma keying the text and showing speed up B&W bokeh footage through the letters. But its not exactly right.
Can anyone recommend anything? Many thanks!!!

I'd do that in Motion, and use a customized Gradient to for the Face of the text, would be quite easy there.

Launch Motion
Create a Titles template for FCPX
Select the text layer
Inspector > Text > Appearance > Face
Change "Fill with" to Gradient
Adjust as desired (which is a whole tutorial unto itself)
