Looking for classy slideshow template for FCPX or Motion was created by ptrush
Hi everyone- Not sure where to post this...
I've been asked to produce a slideshow of 140 images, and I don't want to spend a bunch of time building this from scratch in Motion. Does anyone have any resources for online projects that I can purchase that are of good quality?
Thanks!!
-Pippin

Hi Pippin
Another way to do slideshow into video is to use Keynote, should be on your computer. Keynote has some excellent slideshow and titling capabilities. You can add transitions, actions and effects in Keynote, export as ProRes422 in whatever resolution your video will be in. Then import into FCPX and you can add any additional FCPX effects you want and do a final export (share) for delivery.
Here is a write up by Larry Jordan on using Keynote… larryjordan.com/articles/use-keynote-for-video/
And here is an Izzy video showing one way to do this and adding a VO to the slideshow/video inside of FCPX… www.izzyvideo.com/final-cut-pro-x-keynote/
Lots of other examples out there.
Hope this helps, Greg

There are some good slide presentation packages, as already mentioned. I've used some from MotionVFX.
OTOH even good ones can look like a canned presentation. You need not use those or even Motion -- you can do smooth pans and zooms on still images using the "Ken Burns" effect right in FCPX.
Would that be boring vs. some glitzy effect where the slides animate on the screen? Well, Ken Burns presented 3,000 stills in his Civil War documentary -- an average of 4.3 per minute. He didn't use any fancy computerized effects, but most people found it riveting, not boring.
OTOH he examined 1,000,000 photos, filmed 16,000 and only selected 3,000 for use. So part of a good presentation is being selective on what you show and avoiding redundancy.
If the images have already been selected for you, then you may not have any choice. Using a photo or slide package can avoid a lot of work, at the cost of having a pre-packaged look. But this may be perfectly OK for the audience and situation and a worthwhile tradeoff.
