Library not allowing me to change Media location

Weird behaviour :

I create a new Library (Paris) whilst my other Library (London) is open.
The media locations for Paris default to the media locations of the London library. That's odd in itself.
Worse still, when I try to change the media locations for Paris, it lets me select a folder but doesn't actually change the location.

The only way to set up a Library with the media locations I want is by first closing all existing libraries and only then creating the new library.

Bug? Anyone else experiencing this?

Suzero I think this is the default behavior.
When you open a new Library it will default to last used location. Default location is User Movies Folder.
If you want to create a Library in a different location you must navigate to that location using the "Choose" location and then make sure to click "OK".
Prior to creating a new Library make sure you do not have an event/project selected or the Library will default to that location.

If you want to move the media location and you do so in Library Info Pane and set a new location, it will only store Future imported media to the new location, not existing media. If you want to move existing media files to your new location you must use the "Consolidate Files" command, then your media files will be "Copied" if on a different drive or moved if on the same drive. This is the default behavior. Is this what you mean or am I missing something??

If something else, I might suggest you delete FCPX preferences and reset your Library and media locations. The settings are saved in your preferences file so deleting will give you a clean slate. Hold down the "Option and Command" keys while launching FPCX and then OK "Delete Preferences".

I store my Libraries on external ssd drives and my FCP back-up files in my Movies folder for most projects. My media files are stored on a separate external ssd drive. Then I double or triple back up everything to more external drives. Not experienced any problems in 10.2 or 10.3 in location selection.

Hope this helps, Greg
