Simple History Function For Projects / Finding A Lost Project

Hi Guys,
Just checking that there is no simple history function for work done on Libraries or projects after FCP has quit / crashed?
I was working on a tiny project yesterday and I have absolutely no idea which library / event the project was in.
I even bought FCP Library Manager and searched in all the libraries and on output projects and I just can't find it.
What would an expert do in my shoes to search the source of the project?
Thank you,
P x

And "expert" would know where the project was he was working on in the first place. What was the name of it? What specific Event did you create it in?

Yeah, so I don't know the name of the event I made the project in - If I knew that, I could just use FCP Library Manager to search up the event name.
I'm asking the question as I wanted to know if there was a simple log I could access of previous projects. Like a history. One that isn't deleted when you shut FCPX.

You could try to go to your FCPX Backups folder, sort the files on date and see which project pops up at the top of the list.
Then open that project and see in which Library it is in.
Or you can make a Finder smart collection housing all your FCPX Libraries and then open the most recently modified

So, just to help me understand the situation.
You were working on a Project, crash, now you can't find the Project again, and you don't remember the name of the Project. Is that correct?
And you used FCP Library Manager to look at all the Project names in all your Libraries, and you don't see one that sounds familiar. Is that correct?

Hi Phil
Robbert-Jan's advice is good. You find the Final Cut Backups folder in your user Movies Folder, at least this is the default location. You can "Arrange By" using the the gear icon in the Menu bar and use Date Added/Last Opened/Modified and the folder will arrange by whatever criteria you select. So long as you know the Date and approximate time you will be able to find your project. Back-ups are made ~ every 15 minutes and have a Date/Time Stamp added to Name. The latest back-up will be the project update when you quit or it crashed. You can just double click on the last back up file to open the project.
You could also find info in your User library>Logs>Diagnostic Reports which is where your computer will write crash log files if indeed your FCPX crashed and not just Quit.
Of course, if you just re-open FCPX afterwards, it should just open up whatever project you were working on last and where you left it.
Hope this helps, Greg

And once you identify the Backup File, you should be able to search for the Working File and that should have every keystroke until the crash/quit so you shouldn't have lost anything.
