Connected clips not connecting

At a certain point in my Project, when I attempt to connect a clip over a primary and a secondary storyline, the clip connects, but it conflicts with the secondary. Instead of appearing in a space above the secondary, it plops on TOP of (merged with it, you might say) the secondary--but does not appear during playback of the project. By moving all of the secondary clips to primary, I was able to get the clip to connect as normal.

Yes, there are many UI bugs in this release. Should have done more beta testing, IMHO. I've not seen that one specifically, but I am seeing when I blade a clip, the second half goes offline suddenly. Go figure. I also have all the names of clips in the Browser, list view, go blank on occasion.
