How does 'customizable search' work in FCX 10.3?
Although I'm to upgrade yet, the 10.3 seems a huge move from 10.2 with full of exiting features.
There's one tiny new feature mentioned on the one of the feedback in Larry Jordan site; 'Custom metadata is now searchable' any idea how does it work?
Sorry I can't test it yet...
Thanks for the support...

BTW, once created can they (custom metadata fields) be searchable just library level or global?
Many Thanks!

Add a Text field.
Type in metadata you put in that field.
For example, if I have Canon in my Camera Name for all shots from my Canon camera, I do a text search for Canon, make it a Smart Collection. Exact same thing for custom metadata fields.

Example, horse gives hits on all libraries with horse in some kind of metadata. I then search within Library using FCPX. Not a perfect solution, but good enough fot the cost of software.
The biggest challenge is adding all metadata to all clips, otherwise search will not work.

It seems that the 'Final Cut Library Manager' is the one to be able to perform cross library searches but perhaps have to wait for their FCPX 10.3 update.
Regarding the new feature of searchable 'custom metadata fields', however, I was expecting them to show up in flle list view mode in browser similar to categories like 'takes' 'camera angles' or 'notes' etc. in a similar way to show up in search criteria rules section in browser when creating smart collection filter as in under 'Format info' or 'people' category etc.
Particularly 'file list view' mode could have been very powerful to suit any type of workflows.
The FCPX I think has much scope and potential to keep the editor's focus stay within the programme. It could have been nice if it 'Final Cut Library Manager' was a plug in app for FCPX.

After upgrading Yosemite (10.10) with latest fixes today, performance of network disks for for media seems more responsive in Final Cut Library Manager.

Would you advise to stay in Yosemite (10.10)/FCPX 10.3/Final Cut Library Manager for the time being?

I've just seen the FCPLM updated to FCPX 10.3 in their website.
So, what's your experience so far with Sierra/FCPX 10.3/Final Cut Library Manager in terms of stability?
BTW, thanks for the screenshot, it appears FCPLM can now access to FCPX library events
