FCPX Muscle memory out of whack with 10.3
Don't get me wrong...I love 10.3 - its great - but I'm wasting so much time going here to there and back to the new there. Anyone else feeling like this.....hahahaha

But, yes, my cursor still does some extra milage for transitions lower riiiight, titles/generators upper leeeeeft, and in the beginning the Share button was simply 'gone'
… actually: where are the Themes on my screen… ??? here? no. there ? no. hmmm?
Frankly: both layouts had some sort of inner logic, it's all getting-used-to-it ...........

In fact, all that stuff at the top left are "media management" tools.
Learn the keyboard shortcuts, one at a time. The more time you're fingers are on the keyboard and not the mouse/trackpad, the faster you're getting through your work. My students over the past decade+ always asked the best, easiest way to memorize all those shortcuts. Over my years of teaching, I found a very simple method that many of my students used very successfully. If I access something via a menu or button more than twice or so in an edit session, look at the shortcut in the menu or Tool Tip, memorize that single one for that day. Make yourself use it for one day. Put a sticky note on your screen. Next day, learn another one. You won't soak them all in at once. But over a short time, you'll be surprised how quickly and easily you're picking them up.
BTW, I absolutely hate those color coded keyboards with the shortcuts all over them. But that's just personal preference, some folks love them.

FCPX.guru wrote: … realizing the top left are "Content Browsers". Apple dev team even used that term in their presentation at the Creative Summit. Everything there places a clip in your timeline. Lower right, the Effects & Transitions only "effect" those clips, they don't create physical content in your Timeline.…
Excellent advice, thanks for sharing!
Similar story with keyboard-shortcuts:
left hand is commands, (find, switch 'focussed' pane, active angle)
right hand is actions (J/K/L, set in/out points, nudge l/r)
… okayyyy, the differentiation of commands and actions is a bit academic

*two=old vs new AND keyboard vs track/mouse tool

I agree 100%. Not happy with the new look and feel of interface. Old Microsoft trick of moving EXISTING functionality around to give perception of a new product, when in fact, users now have to re-learn where all the EXISTING functionality is now. I personally am disappointed with the lack of colour. Objects that changed colour indicated underlying functionality. Now it is harder to see that. A diamond icon for keyframes is now harder to see in a sea of white objects. In Motion 5.3, if you rig a parameter, the rigged icon would turn blue if on a key frame and you could click it to toggle keyframe on/off. Now the rig icon stays one colour(no indication of a keyframe). If you click it(and have the keyframe editior open) it still has functionality behind it(i.e. puts a keyframe on the parameter) but you can not tell from the parameter window anymore because the icon has no colour.
I just don't agree that removing all the colour from buttons/icons helps at all, with concentrating better on the video. To me, that is just marketing hype. There was a definite practical indication of functionality behind changing the colour of icons, that is now lost in this new interface.
Also don't like the splitting of titles/generators to the opposite side of the window to effects/transitions. To me, they are all created in motion which was a logical reason for keeping them together. I have heard the arguments for separating them, but again, theory vs. practicality in use, makes more clicks and less sense.
Having said that...I agree fully with your last statement:

Additionally, 10.3 has nothing to do with the other NLEs, in my opinion.
And mostly, I really trust the vision of Apple's team. I think whoever isn't onboard should sometimes just realize that there are a lot of bright minds involved in this updates, they just don't make decisions overnight.
I love the changes.

As for me, it took only a few minutes to get used to the new layout. My biggest problem, believe it or not, was locating the opacity controls. I simply could not find them! It turns out that they moved them from the bottom of the Inspector to the top for some incomprehensible reason but whatever I know where it is now. For me it feels like normal FCPX now. Things are in a few different places. It will be fun to look back on pre-10.3 FCPX in a year or two when we're all super-used to how this one looks and feels.

Unfortunately, I bragged to the station's GM about it. Thus, I'm churning out more work per day than I ever have before.
  Been there....done that! The more you give, the more they want. Good thing this set of tools help speed up the process.
