Using Apple Cinema Display as AV output

I have a setup of a Mac Pro (3,1) with three (!) old Apple Cinema Displays.
All three screens default to 1920x1200 output.

Would it be possible to use the third display as an AV output without hardware like the Decklink?

Any help welcome!

thanks, Rob

In 10.3 you're supposed to be able to use any display as AV Output.
If you are already running 10.3, try it and see how it goes.
If you are on 10.2.3 or earlier, pay attention to the recommendations before updating and then try it out.

This info is not correct no possible to set any Display to a A/V Output.

I use a TV out of my Mac Pro's HDMI as an AV Output pretty regularly without any Blackmagic box.

Ok, not "any" display... what the release notes say is

Use a Thunderbolt cable for direct A/V output to an external display, without the need for a separate I/O device

I have been using this feature with my older iMac as A/V output, which was not possible before. I also tried with a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter with my 24" monitor at home, and it worked.
I overgeneralized.

Thanks to all for replying.

Unfortunately this is a 2008 Mac Pro.

No thunderbolt here, so I guess Blackmagic has to come to the rescue... ;-)
