24bit Audio from FCPX / X2Pro appears as 16bit in Pro Tools

Hi All
We regularly use X2Pro to send AAF files to our audio-finishing guys who are ProTools based. All the audio we work with is 24 bit 48K WAV.
The audio in our FCP timelines show up as 24 bit WAV, but recently our sound guys are telling us the AAF files are showing up as 16 bit in ProTools. We don’t have ProTools so can’t check the AAFs we make. We rely on our audio guys to warn us of any problems.
Can anyone advise us on this? I’m not sure if I should be troubleshooting in FCPX or X2Pro. So far I can’t find anything wrong in either.
X2Pro has few preferences. There is no setting to change the bit rate (other than when converting from a non PCM source like mp.3).
BTW We are still using FCP 10.2.3. with the latest X2Pro and El Capitan 10.11.6.
Any help or advice would be hugely appreciated!

Hi
I believe we are using the most recant X2Pro version 4.0.10. (I'm not at the office right now so can't check). I know we updated around a week ago.
Are you running this version too? When did you notice this starting to happen? (Or did you check as a response to my post - in which case thanks for doing that!
Our sound guys don't seem to be able to tell me when they first encountered the problem (which might have given me a lead as to what's happening) so that's not helping me.
Anyone else with Pro Tools seeing this issue?
John

I just tried this using a FCPX 10.3 XML and the current version of X2Pro. 24bit successfully carries over to Pro Tools 12.6.
Is it possible that X2Pro may not be recognizing your embedded 24bit audio as PCM, and with the X2Pro Bit Depth Preference set to 16bit - it's converting? I would suggest making sure the Preference is set to 24bit and see what happens with a 24bit WAV or AIFF.
Check the (Bit Depth) attributes of the audio file(s) that live in FCPX before you create your intermediate XML ...
