How do (can I) maintain color setting throughout clip?

Hi,

Forgive me I am new and just getting through some color grading training. I have this outstanding question that I think there must be a better solution for. Here is an example of the issue:

I have a clip where the sunlight shines in and out through the trees as the clip progresses. I can adjust the color/exposure for one section to my liking, but that adjustment doesn't apply 4 seconds later when the sunlight changes.

What I am doing right now is slicing the clip as the change occurs, and re-grading (manual or auto match depending) the next section...and the next...and so on. I am quite sure this is is not appropriate but it was just my first instinct. How do I deal with a clip like this with changing color attributes?

Thanks,

Mike

… I think I remember the same Q awhile ago, trouble was and still is, you can not keyframe CC

The solution was:
double. the clip = same clip on two lanes, apply cc#1 on one lane, cc#2 to the other and switch btw lanes …

Or blade the clip and use a dissolve transition between them.
