Select Video Roles

Hi,

I'd like to select video roles for colour correcting/effects..... I'd like to make video subroles for each interviewee then be able to select just their shots and paste effects onto them.... strangely one time I highlighted the subrole and pressed select all and it just selected all the shots with that particular subrole.. but I can't repeat that!! maybe I had the mouse somewhere different...

Any ideas on how to do this? ( I know I could name the clips and use the timeline index search but I thought roles would be simpler...)
