Sequence workplace

Hello, I have a question for other fellow editors. At the moment I work on Premiere Pro, and I'm constantly looking at ways to do the same things in FCP X. When I use premiere I will often work on multiple sequences separately before adding them to my main timeline-its just easier to organize that way. Has anyone figured out the best way to organize in progress sequences instead of creating new projects every time? Also, I'm not talking about compound clips, I am talking about having an area to organize thoughts and ideas before implementing them into a long timeline that often becomes overwhelming.
