After upgrade to 10.3, FCPX no longer auto-opens recent libraries - Anyone else? was created by juergen.berkessel
After upgrading, whenever I start Final Cut Pro X 10.3,
I get an "Open Library" screen.
This means I have to navigate and manually open a catalog every time I start FCPX
Is this happening to anyone else, or am I missing something?
Many Thanks!
- Expected behavior would be to open the last catalog I was working in.
- Also, recent libraries are not displayed.

Hi Juergen, welcome to the forums.
Close FCP X and launch it again while holding the ALT+CMD keys pressed down. You will get a message asking you if you want to delete your preferences. Confirm and let FCP X launch. Then open a Library, close FCP X again and check if it opens with that same Library.

Nope, happens to me too. Trashing prefs didn't help. I'm on a 6 core nMP running El Cap 10.11.6.

Just getting started with 10.3
No problem opening Libraries and Project just where I left off, including dual monitor set up. Quitting and relaunching just as I expect.
I did notice that on first launch of 10.3, all Libraries/Projects and Snapshots for existing projects get converted and new Date Time stamps are applied to the time of conversion. This means that if you use the Date/Time stamp for say Snapshots to edit or go back in time, there is no longer any way to differentiate if you do not change the name while creating Snapshots or prior to first launching 10.3. Creation date everything is converted to the same Time Stamp. Messed with how I work.
Hope this helps, Greg

Thanks for the tip, but alas this did not work for me either...
I was able to delete the preferences, but after opening and closing libraries FCPX does not open anything on re-start, and I have to browse and select a library every time... Running on a Mid 2011 iMac, 3.4Ghz Core i7 with 16GB RAM

Try going into System Prefs>General and try setting the Recents to something like 10, instead of none. I was having this issue a while back and that seemed to work after opening a few Librarys. It then "remembered" the list.

Thanks a ton, this solved it for me !!!
This is exactly what it was, I had my open recents set to none, and once I changed this to 10, FCPX behaves as before and auto-opens the most recent project....

Neither option is helping me. I deleted my preferences multiple times, and I already had "recents" list set to 10. I tried setting it to 'none' then back to 10, but it still does not remember my recently opened libraries.
Please help.

Sorry to hear... Maybe one approach would be to try to set recents to 0, then uninstall FCPX completely, clear prefs, then reinstall and switch back to 10 recents... I can't think of anything else... other than that I hope the next version might catch and fix this issue.

WOW! damn, man! i had the exact same problem and it was driving me crazy! who would have thought that out of the blue 10.3 needs this setting now (worked before with having set it to "0"). closes one big annoying "Bug" for me!
