Help with 60p slow motion footage

Hi Guys,
I just shot a workout on a Sony A6000 and an FS5. I shot them both in 60p. I used the "Automatic" button in the retime menu. Both clips got slowed down to 40% as per a 24p timeline.
So far no surprises. BUT... watching the footage back, the A6000 footage looks hideous. I shot 90% of the workout on the A6000 because it's better in low light, and the light was nasty, but the slow motion looks like I'm trying to slow a 24p clip down to 40%.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Have I missed a step? I put the A6000 and the FS5 footage one after the other here... The difference is obvious. One is slow mo - The other isn't.
Any ideas?

PS - This is shot in XAVCs. Shutter was 120 as frame rate was 60p..

Many/most/all? modern cameras do not record slowmo with high frame rate; but do the conforming in-camera.
When I record 100/120fps with my Lumix, the resulting mp4 has 25fps - but is 4x as long as in real time....
So, are you sure, your cam was set to record in 60p? Perhaps its 24, but with a 60fps frame rate?
(sounds confusing but digital recording is not 'filmstrips')
Shot frame rate an recording frame rate are independent from each other, some devices record 60fps with 60fps, other do record 60fps with 24fps.....

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm pretty sure i shot it at 60fps.
In xavcs on the a6000, you only get 24p and 60p options. In fcpx when i highlight the clip and click "info" in the inspector, it tells me 60p. So this must be 60p yeah??
In the timeline, when I click "automatic speed" it makes the clip 40% speed. So this must be 60p?
Why would the playback look so choppy??

I'd have to see an original clip to be sure, but it looks like the footage was shot at a 1/30 shutter speed.
This could happen for one of two reasons; One the 'auto slow shutter' (or low light mode on some cameras) was set to on,
and/or the camera was set to one of the letter modes, instead of video mode. When recoding video with the mode dial set to A, S, or M with Sony cameras, it will automatically default to P settings. To record video with manual settings, you have to have the mode dial in video mode, and then use the function menu to change the video record mode to A, S, or M.

Thank you for these suggestions. I will go back to the drawing board and test your ideas out. Figure out what went wrong. Thank you

When I shoot 60p for slo mo I make my timeline 30 fps and clips at 50%. This way same number of shot frames is on the timeline. Nothing dropped nothing added. You can try that. If you haven't already set the video quality to optical flow.
