What's New with FCPXML 1.6?
I don't think 1.6 works with the current version of Resolve so I'm curious what that really means and also what doors v1.6 could open up (to better translations, etc), if any? Maybe improvements with Logic X?

ronny courtens wrote: Excellent question, Shane. FCPX XML 1.6 is a huge step forward, but it gets a bit lost in all the talks about the other enhancements that have been introduced in this new version. We will be publishing more details about the new FCPX XML right after the FCPX Tour in Barcelona neck week.

Sounds great, Ronny.
I noticed that Blackmagic Design just released the 12.5.3 update today with support for FCPXML 1.6...I haven't had a chance to download it but I would assume there is something to benefit from in this new version!
This software update is for all DaVinci Resolve Studio customers. It adds support for XML version 1.6 so you can import and work with projects from the new Final Cut Pro X. In addition, this update also adds support for ACES 1.0.2 and ACEScct color science, along with improved MXF XAVC encoding, improved AAF importing from Media Composer, and improved Dolby Vision XML exporting. DaVinci Resolve 12.5.3 Studio also adds support for PostgreSQL 9.5.2 on macOS Sierra. Download now!

1.6 is mostly refinement of XML1.5 to incorporate some of the new features of FCPX10.3
Here is Apple's summary found here… developer.apple.com/library/content/docu...on/Introduction.html
In essence changes include (from above site)
"FCPXML 1.6 includes the following changes:
• Single asset reference—New <asset-clip> element to add both the audio and video media components from a media file as a clip.Relevant Chapter: Story Elements
• Synchronized clips—New <sync-clip> element to describe clips whose contained items and anchored items are synchronized.Relevant Chapter: Story Elements
• Audio components—Added support for audio components identified in terms of their roles.Relevant Section: Audio Components
• Wide-gamut color—Added support for projects using wide gamut color (Rec. 2020)."
Of course the meat is in the details and your need for the expanded info.
I imagine this will take on additional importance with LogicPro when it gets updated for the Roles based exchange and for other DAWS.
You can still use older XML versions for apps that are not updated yet.
Looking forward to Ronny's and Philip/Greg's take.
Hope this helps, Greg

One thing I was hoping in future FCPXML is that there was some way for things like markers to translate to Resolve.
This kind of stems from my frequent workflow to get clips out of FCPX with handles because I have to send them to someone else for VFX or something else, which apparently this 10.3 update still didn't address...
I would like to mark the clips I need to send to another person in the FCPX timeline, and then FCPXML out of FCPX to Resolve (which allows exporting with handles), and then just filter the clips in the timeline with markers on the DELIVERY page and easily export the marked clips with handles in one swoop...sorta like I show in this tutorial video here:
Anyway, that is a pretty specific workflow, but markers seem like something that is fairly simple and universal to translate...although I know very little about the inner working of FCPXML, so who knows...

Nice find!
I got a little surprised when suddenly my pointer was gone and FCPX began to export the XML.
And perhaps I did something wrong but there is a difference between exporting an XML via the menu and drag´n´dropping it onto an application. That seems to be a little off.
Regarding the markers:
Markers will appear within FCPXML.That´s not new in FCPXML1.6
So would be on Resolves side to implement them.
