I am able to view a mirror image of my iMac's screen while editing with FCPX, however, I am unable to find a method to view the 'viewer' on that second monitor. I was not able to find the answer while reading the FCPX manual so now I appeal to the Forum.

Thanks in advance.

System preferences Displays. Make sure mirroring is off.

I accessed displays and turned off mirroring, however, I still cannot see my second monitor in the 'viewing' mode. I can return to the mirroring display but unable to view the 'viewer' on the second monitor.

What am I missing here?

After you switch off mirroring you use the function in the FCP menus to put the viewers on the secondary monitor.

Hi Nemo
Page 78 User Guide (assuming here the page is correct for the version of FCPX you are using)
"…In Final Cut Pro, choose Window > Show Viewers on Second Display."

Personally I move the main FCPX window to my larger external monitor and then it becomes the "Main" monitor and then use the above to move my "Viewer" to my computer retina display(Second Display) for viewing. My external has more room for files, windows and my retina is better for color. As long as my external is connected when I launch FCPX, it will just return to my last set up from when I Quit FCPX.

Hope this helps, Greg

Thanks Greg. I appreciate your guidance. I am having problems with color corrections and would like to know the proper monitor settings for my iMac with Retina display. I see many choices for these settings.

Thanks again Tom. I am having success despite my somewhat dense mind. Now I would like to know what setting you would use on an iMac 27" with Retina display for proper color corrections. My second monitor is a Samsung TV and not the best for correcting color.

You should use the default color settings in Displays for your computer.

I shall use the default color setting, which in this case is the iMac default color setting. I will adjust screen brightness accordingly.

For a second monitor what do you think of the Asus ProArt PA248Q 24.1 Inch LED Monitor? It is within a reasonable price range for me on Amzon.
