hey guys,
I'm filming 5 seconds of 4k video (i know it's short, it's a 'pick up' shot). It needs to go to an advertising agency. What's the best export settings to email it to them?
I'm sending from our work emails, it can handle big things.
Thanks if you can help out. : )

Have you confirmed such a large file be handled on the other end?
I'd simply use Dropbox or something to be safer.
If they're editing with it, what format to they require?

hey editor guy,
thanks for replying.

They may do some post prod to it e.g color correction. ( I said i'll shoot it flat & a bit richer in color)

If it were you, what would be your recommended 'export settings'?
apple pro res / h.264 etc?

I'd punch someone in the nose if they gave me 4K H.264 to color grade with. LOL! Maybe not, if I got paid enough.

In a perfect world, I'd prefer ProRes, and if someone can't use DropBox, well, they need to get their head out of 2005 and smell the 2016 coffee.

What duration are these clips?

Editorguy> duration 5 secs...I spoke to the agency & they'll be able to pick it up off google drive..they've done it before.
So i plan on just lifting it from the sd card (as you'd normally do) & just slap it into an email. as is the way it is off the sd card..right?

If all they want is the 5 sec shot -- out of camera -- and they expected internet upload, I don't see the purpose of transcoding this to ProRes before uploading it. It makes the file hugely bigger and doesn't add anything.

However they know their own delivery requirements. If they want ProRes no matter what the cost in upload/download time, then give them ProRes.

A co-worker just sent me a 4k ProRes file captured on a Black Magic HDMI recorder from a Panasonic DVX200 -- it was about a gigabyte for 7 sec.

A 5 second clip? Even with ProRes that should be pretty small. DropBox, one of the free transfer services, email.

Thanks Joema & editorguy..yeah the 5 sec clip is a 'pick up' shot they needed re-shooting, for a commercial.
