Hello!
I'm looking for an advice what would be the right way to do the upgrades for my Mac Pro. I'm still on FCPX 10.0.9. and system is OS X 10.6.8.
Can anyone please tell me the right steps for doing these upgrades?
I though I could just go to software updates and install latest system as well as last FCPX version but there is no such option. In App store I can't find upgrade options too...
Thanks!

You need to update the OS first. Recent versions won't run on that OS. Check the Purchased page of the App Store to see if the app is there.

Hi Briemas
You don't say which model of MacPro you have. Some of the legacy MP have been declared Obsolete by Apple and it may take some modding/hacks to get the latest versions of OS and FCPX on them. There are also hardware requirements that are needed including GPUs. Check the specs for your model and see if it meets the minimum requirements. You can upgrade if needed. It is even possible to get MP1.1 to work.
I would also recommend a "Clean" install of the OS especially since you are upgrading from 10.6. This is easy with a MP by installing a new drive (ssd recommended) as the Boot, install the OS and Apps needed then you can access the old data from the old drive or move/copy/paste any files you need onto the new drive if you want. Really no need if you have the PCIe slot available. Please save yourself grief and don't use Migration Assistant. This will bring lots of junk and possibly problems to your new system.
If you intend to bring old FCPX 10.0.9 events/projects to the new system, I suggest you read this article to avoid having FCPX10.2.X lumping all your projects together… www.philiphodgetts.com/2013/12/upgrade-y...ries-the-better-way/
Lots of changes from 10.0 to 10.2.3 and hopefully FCPX10.3 soon.
Best of Luck, Happy Editing, Greg

There is no OS upgrade possible in the Purchased page. Just the FCP app.
But, under Updates there is a free upgrade to macOS Sierra which is not working for me. At least 10.7 is required to do that...

You have to step through the earlier OS. You need to get to at least Yosemite for the current FCP. Make sure your system meets the minimum technical requirements.

I managed the upgrades - have Sierra now and FCPX 10.2.3. Everything seems to work fine, apart from one thing - sound from my LED cinema display keeps disappearing, then appearing back again. Just for no reason. For example, I took a 10 break short while ago and when I returned back to computer, sound is not there anymore. Neither in FCPX nor in Youtube videos. I didn't do anything at all which could accidentally lead to that. And it will come back after a while. What do you think could be a problem and a solution for that?
Thanks!
