25P footage (Pal) C100 seen as interlaced in FCPX was created by James2
I am editing C100 footage that was shot in 25P.
FCPX sees the footage as 25i.
I get the same result when using Clipwrap/EditReady or via Davinci Resolve or importing the MTS file directly. I tried setting the Field Dominance Override to Progressive but I keep seeing
interlaced jaggies still after setting it to progressive.
My Project settings are 1080P.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance

Post some screenshots of what you're seeing when the viewer is set to both fields. Shows specs of media and project.

This is a known issue with C100-footage in FCPX. As people smarter than me have pointed out on this forum, it's Canons fault, not FCPX. It (and maybe other NLEs too) can't recognize correctly if MTS-files from the C100 are progressive or interlaced. Forcing FCPX to see the C100-Files as progressive often doesn't stick, next time you open it, the files might be interlaced again.
Not sure why ClipWrap does not solve the issue on your end, it works for me. My workaround for C100-Files is this:
- Import from card through Canons DataImportUtility -> this gives each file a unique name based on shot-date, time and timecode instead of clip1, clip2 clip3 etc.
- Rewrap or transcode the imported MTS-Files with ClipWrap. You can choose to only rewrap and optimize for FCPX in the ClipWrap-Settings. But since ClipWrap is fairly fast I often let it transcode the files to ProRes LT (my old macbook struggles, when working with H.264-Files).
- Import the rewrapped or transcoded files into FCPX.
By doing this, FCPX correctly sees the files as progressive on my mac.

Hi, just noticed your post. A very easy way I have found to handle C100 files is to just import them as per normal.
Once all your files are imported select all the thumbnails and go to video info panel on right side of screen.
Under the Field Dominance Override tab you can select Progressive and they are instantly changed. Very quick and painless method.
Cheers
