Where to store my intro video for all Youtube vids? was created by Gilbert13
Hey guys,
So, once I have my finalized intro video done that I want to use fro all of my future Youtube shows, where would I store that so I can quickly drop it into the timeline? Would it be under collections-favorites?
Thanks!

Hey Gilbert13,
I use a separate Library that I store all our commonly used logos and credits in. I also use this library to store pre-made "2 pops", colour bars, and even music that we have licensed or made for us. I call it the "Tool box". That may be a good method for you.
I also recommend having the intro as a compound clip in addition to a project, so you can easily drag and drop it between libraries, straight into your new projects.
However, you could also just put these things in a single event, if you find having multiple libraries too much hassle.
Hope that helps.

If you don't want to change anything in the intro whenever it is used then just export a master file from FCPX and store it wherever you want on any drive (preferably an external drive). Then when you want to use it in another video, import it to the new project (using leave files in place so it doesn't duplicate the file each time) and drop the movie file into the timeline.
If you think you might need to change text or color or otherwise modify the intro in certain videos then just place the project in an easily locateable library (named something like "Intros"). Whenever you need it, load that library and copy and paste your intro into the new video project. This will duplicate the media used in the intro each time you do it.
Read up about compound clips because that is also an option for frequently used items, but there are specific ways to create them that either affect all other instances of them or not.
