Not sure what you mean by edit stills?
'abuse' FCPX as Photoshop replacement..? To some degree yes, have to admit, I lack scopes and white balance in Pixelmator, so I had imported stills into my favorite toy and did my adjustments there :woohoo:
(Aiffinity Photo HAS scopes… to do a lil' marketing …)
Or, are you talking about stuff like stop-motion, time-lapse, etc? For sure, that can be accomplished in FCPX too.
And, Welcome fletch, to fcp.co
and don't get hasty with double post, read our rules:

Thank you for the reply. I am new to FCPX and I'm using it for drone videos and pictures for real estate purposes. I guess I could video everything in raw format, then adjust color etc. then take screen shots if the resolution would still be good? I'm also uploading some videos to Facebook for my business, but for some reason Facebook doesn't see what quality of the movie HD, 720 etc. so I have to adjust manually with the gear at the bottom right hand corner? Wondering if that's Facebook or I'm exporting incorrectly in FCPX? Sorry for the long post..

Well, resolution doesn't change, when you record in 1080 or 4k or 720 and you set your Projects setting accordingly, an exported still has the same res.
... ok, you can spend [strike]hours[/strike] days in discussing "can a frame-grab have something near quality of a photo?"
video is highly compressed, starting with 4:2:0 color compression, ending with cinematography is different to photography (e.g. usage of motion blur) …
I've seen excellent framegrabs.
no idea how FB handles that. On YT, pic quality is set by your connection: the better your dl-speed, the higher res&fps - automatically. YT converts any uplod into 17 (??) diff. codecs & formats - you have no option to affact that.
There's no secret button you can apply to a mov or mp4 which tells those mass-distributors "in shiny 4k only!"
... compare to my reply
usually, I apply a dozen pics with hundreds of red arrows!!! :woohoo:

Thank you very much for your reply! I still have a lot to learn, and will try to learn something new every day...I've been using iMovie, but i'm convinced FCPX has much more to offer.. Thanks again.
