I'm based in Huddersfield and have been using FCP7 and now FCPX since its release. I generally get by but rarely have to do anything too sophisticated or work on huge projects. I know the majority of my workflow and techniques are entirely self taught (or from Lynda or Larry J if I get stuck) and probably not that efficient. I would love the chance to shadow a professional FCPX editor for the day, someone who works on serious and/or lengthy projects (possibly broadcast), merely to sit quietly and observe them in action doing their day to day cutting. I know several professional editors but they are all Adobe based nowadays and I'm loathed to convert. I'm willing to travel so please give me shout if you might be able to help me out, many thanks.

We are a production company based in Cleator Moor, which is near Whitehaven in Cumbria. We do some shooting but we are mostly editing and post. Our background is commercials / BBC going back to the 80s.
We do a mixture of broadcast, corporate and animation / graphics. Including quite a bit of children’s TV. We edit 100% in FCPX, although we sometimes cross to the dark side and master our final output from Media Composer, as one of our broadcast clients insists on DNxHR masters rather than ProRes.
We have three edit desks with Retina i-Macs and Blackmagic video in/out to broadcast monitors. All run FCPX, Media Composer, After Effects etc.
We are a bit of a distance away from you, but we would be happy for you to drop in for a day and see what we do and how we work if you could get up here. It’s always good to meet other FCPX editors!
If you want to get in touch drop an e-mail to our producer Lorna at:

That is very generous John, thank you. I would like to take you up on that offer.
I will figure some potential dates out and get in touch with Lorna after my next job ends next Sunday.
Much appreciated.
