Apple’s patent for a roles-based / keyword-based mixer and effects for Final Cut was created by alex4D
Back in September 2011, the ProApps team submitted a patent for applying effects to timeline clips based on their metadata tags. The examples they included in the patent was showing how all clips with a 'Dialog' role or a 'SFX' could be controlled by a fader and have effects applied as a whole role.
