Is there any news about FCPx implementing support for CC, and when that might be?
thanks,

Of course. Sorry. No idea if or when. You might check out spherical.com. Andreas Kiel might have some tools that could help you.

You can add and visualize CC in COMPRESSOR using SCC file, but not yet for MXF , SWITCH from Telestream can.
Many good caption softwares for conversions and insertion also available on the App Store...

Using Compressor is definitively a good option. Many TV stations will accept those MXF files with "sidecar" CCs.
That Apple will implement integration of CCs in MXF files is more than unlikely and you have to use Switch or Swift to do that.
Another option is to use TTML files which are widely accepted in the Broadcast world.
For web-based services (Youtube, Vimeo and others) use SRT or VTT.
In the Apple Store you'll find only a very few apps for FCPX and subtitles. Google is your friend here.
