I have been editing a feature doc using CCs for each 'chapter'/scene, periodically dropping them into a Project and posting to Vimeo. So the whole crew can sit around and kibbitz. Moving toward the FINAL (I know I am cursed for saying that out loud), and I find that 2 of the CCs are 23.98, all the rest are 29.97. My bad, somewhere along the line, but the real question is, why were they in sync in the project? And can I leave them 23.98? Will break apart CCs for export, but the ruff previews have looked fine just assembled.
BTW: most of the footage is archival DV, HDV, and the new interviews are 1080, 23.98.
thanks for help working out this workflow.

If you put 23.98fps stuff in a 29.97fps timeline it will run fine. The framerate won't be perfectly consistent though. You'll notice some juddering on smooth pans, for instance. If it looks fine to you there's nothing wrong with leaving it as is. I mean you've got footages from DV and HDV thrown in there as well so the entire project is going to have a mixed look as it is. So no biggie at all, really.

Gretta, I like you avatar. I've been assembling miles of 16mm from the ancient corporate archives using that exact tape splicer. Mine is so old it no longer has a nameplate, though. And I need a new single edge razor blade.

thanx. I took my Revis splicer that I have had since like 1979 NYC to do a job at U of Wisconsin. Job was more than a week and I left splicer there overnight. Last day I had to deliver film to transfer house and forgot my splicer. Weeks later when I remembered it, of course, no one had seen it and no one knew anything.

You could possibly run your shots through an app like Compressor, convert framerates and use optical flow to make up the missing frames. It's not perfect, but it might be enough for smoother motion.
