Hi,
I followed the instructions for creating a NFS share using NFS manager, but there is no share object even after the restart. I have connected the two Macs with a ethernet cable ad hoc. The only difference I saw was that in NFS Manager at lower left says Computer localhost not videoserver.local. What i am missing.

Thanks

Where did you get NFS Manager? It is these guys?

www.bresink.com/osx/NFSManager.html

I'd talk to the maker of the software.

But I must tell you, our FCPX media server is an NFS setup. It simply would not exist without our company's IT wonks who researched it thoroughly, created and debugged several terminal scripts (that run at startup to grab persistent IP addresses), and handle our occasional (near panic) phone calls.

I agree that NFS can be very tricky to set up. Unless you use a server that has been configured and fully optimized for NFS, such as a LumaForge ShareStation. Blazing fast over NFS, and only a few clicks to get you up and running with as many machines as you wish. Shared storage does not need to be complicated anymore in the modern world B)

Our security situation (critical infrastructure/military grade) requires our IT department to handle all exotics. We talk to servers in a remote location over fiber via thunderbolt-to-fiber boxes from Sonnet. The servers are managed by windows geeks so, of course, everything about them and the software is a mystery to us; we're just photographers who love our Macs.

I really don't know how our NFS works but I know who to call when it doesn't.

Thank you all for your responses.
I finally managed to make it work... For the moment at least... I just followed the steps exactly. The NFS manager is really helpful. I am a little worry about the speed as I use an editing station as a server connected to a gigabit switch and I have two other clients... I am editing 2 angles multicam 1080p... We will see...
