recommendations for sending a client all the assets

recommendations for sending a client all the assets was created by hepler
I recently did a small project for a church celebrating their 100 year anniversary, it was a 20 min video that included a lot of old pics, some old footage and new interviews that I did as well as a voice over and quotes etc. So quiet an array of media. What would be the best way to put everything on a portable HD for them to have as an archive that might be future proof as far as we can tell.
And is there a way to create an archive with all the used and unused assets from FC?
There used to be a dialog box with you consolidated media that allowed you to check a box that would copy the media used and unused but I couldn't find that.
Thanks
scott

Are you working with managed media or external media? If you're using external media use library properties to change where media is stored to be inside the library. Then use the consolidate function to copy all the external media into the library. Your library bundle becomes your archive.

Hepler,
Is there a reason they need all that? I'd see if you could hand off a quicktime masterfile (full res). Who knows what the future holds, if your client has or will have fcp or will it be some other edit software?
What I would do is give them a master file and if there are scanned images, graphics and maybe music just put those on a dvd.
The more I consider this giving the client everything seems like a recipie for a headache. FWIW.

Thanks Tom, my workflow since I am not collaborating with anyone is to import each project I shoot into a separate library on an external HD. So all their assets are in "their" library. I just didn't know if I used the consolidate function if that would copy just the used media or everything. Is there a reason I couldn't just drag and drop the library onto another portable HD?

Jonathan, I think they just want it for their archives, they don't have any NLE at all so they are not looking to do anything with it. But they are thinking that these interviews of the people will outlast the people. So they are wanting the whole interview not just the portion we put in the show.

You can do that. If they just want the media it would be simplest to copy the original media folder out of the library bundle and go be them that.
