lost imported media

 I have attempted to upload video footage from an external hard drive into fcpx by "leaving in place" and "create optimized media." After selecting "import" the media transcoded and loaded, and then the import screen went away, yet nothing was imported into my fcpx library. Did anything even import? If so, where did it go?

I just posted about a question I have about importing media. Will that post ever become public after it is approved? Is there any way to get some help now? I am trying to import video footage to work on this video tonight, and the it says it imports, yet nothing is in my library on fcpx. I am so confused.

I figured out a way to import my media!
Previously I had imported video footage from and external hard drive, but under the wrong setting "copy to library." When I noticed what I had done, I deleted all the media from the library and tried to re-import the media "leaving files in place." After selecting "import" the pop-up showed that it was transcoding (it went unusually fast for the amount of media I was importing), the import screen went away, and there was no media in my library. I tried this multiple times, even resorting back to "copy to library." No luck getting any media into my fcpx library.
Finally, since my library was empty and there was no progress in the project anyways, I closed the library and made a new one. I then imported the necessary media "leaving files in place," and it worked!
I'm still curious why it wasn't working, but I'm

This is a private owned website, supported by volounteers around the globe (timezones?)
... no 24/7 service, sorry
There are other boards, incl Apples own Support Community - maybe 'faster', but no means better than this.
And Welcome Audrey to fcp.co

Thank you! I just wasn't sure If my post would ever be seen, or how long it would take for it to be approved by a moderator.
Also, when I view this post of mine, it says I have 5 replies, and I only see this one. I am still learning the ropes of this website so if you have any tips for me that would be much appreciated!
Thanks again.

I don't know of FCPX not importing media when it is supposed to, not a known bug. What I suspect, and is a very common think overlooked by new users, is the settings of your search and filtering in the Browser.
Top right is a search field. Be sure it is empty. Actually click the tiny X to its right to clear it.
To left is a filter menu. Be sure it is set to All Clips before panicking.
Also, be sure you're looking in the correct Event. Did you create a new Event in the Import window? Which Event was specified in the Import window, which one was highlighted after import? Not always the same.

Thank you for your feedback!
There was nothing in my search bar, and the menu to the left was on "hide rejected"
I just changed it to "all clips"
very valid points.. I didn't think about that! Otherwise, i'm not sure why they didn't import. I ended up creating a new library and they imported just fine into that one.

I had clicked on the percentage circle which read "100%" and nothing was loading. However, I did not click on the drop down menu for each category. The media could have been loading there, but wasn't loaded enough to change the percentage in the main circle.. if ya know what I mean.
That is definitely a possibility that I could have overlooked. Thank you!

Also check that your browser does not have one of the default smart collections selected.
If you're parked on the "Audio Only" smart collection in your Library, for example, then you will not see newly imported media that contains Both audio and video.
... and welcome to the forum.
