It appears Apple has discontinued the ancient Thunderbolt display.
FCPX is long overdue for an update...
Mac Pro is long overdue for an update...
Thunderbolt Display is extremely long overdue for an update...
Hmm...sure would seem like these items could coincide for a mondo update - but alas this is the post-Jobsian era where Apple tends to disappoint and underwhelm (as well as being generally slow) instead of happily surprising everyone, so I'm not holding my breath.
I guess positive thoughts can't hurt though!

The interesting part in that linked article:
…sounds to me, Apple leaves the market for displays.
Sales numbers would be interesting, who needs an Apple display anyhow?
Apple spokesperson:
…There are a number of great third-party options available for Mac users.
