Hi guys

I haven't been able to find an answer to this anywhere, so I thought you guys might be able to help me?
I've filmed a lot of home video over the years, and now I want to export it. I've organized it in FCPX during the years, and now when I want to export it, I find that it exports with the current date. That makes chronological organizing a nightmare.

So my question is: Is there any way to export a clip, so that the video file keeps the recording date instead of the exporting date?

Thanks a lot in advance!

When you are exporting, you are writing a brand new video file on your drive. Thus, it gets the date it was created, itself.

You can add metadata, tags. OS X's Finder can read those. Or put the date in the name of the new file.

one other thing, if you just want the original raw non-edited files, right click the clip, select 'reveal in finder' and then copy (NOT move) the file wherever you want to.

While the previous replies are correct they don't answer your question.

Look here how to do:

If you know a little about AppleScript/Automator you can make Automator action out of this.
