I've just started working with FCPX as a videographer at a camp, but every time I try to open the video scopes, the app just crashes - no warning, no explanation - it just quits. It seems this is quite a rare thing, and I haven't found any instructions comprehensive enough to follow. I don't think it's just the system, because the app works fairly well in all other respects.
Any suggestions?

System Specs:
OS X El Capitan
3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB

What Mac model is this?
Are your Libraries and media on a secondary drive, or the system drive?
What percentage of each drive is free space (should be more than 15%).

You could try trashing preferences, then reinstalling if that didn't work.

Nope, not a common problem at all. Sorry to see you have this issue. But folks here will get you through it.

It's a late 2013 27-inch iMac08 with El Capitan 10.11.1, running FCPX 10.2.1 (unable to update as of yet... I'm hoping that might sort it out). I've been storing the footage on an external 18TB Drobo, with 15TB available space. From there, I import the footage into FCPX, creating optimised and proxy media, but leaving the files in place (I'm still figuring out the file storing system as well - I'm used to Avid). There's another external drive attached, along with the internal 250GB drive, both have at least 15% free space.
Thanks.

Make sure you’ve updated to FCPX v10.2.3.

You didn’t say but are you using any kind of second monitor setup - or an i/o device like from Blackmagic or AJA? If so, as an experiment you could try running without them and see if the problem stops. i/o device drivers can sometimes cause weird stuff to happen. Just a thought..

I agree with the others, you should try to update to 10.2.3 a.s.a.p.

First step, update to OS X 10.11.5 and FCPX 10.2.3 to assure you have the most stable combo at the moment.

Huh. Finally managed to update it, and it's working perfectly now.
Thanks, everyone!
