Deleted Prefs. How to make FCPX behave again? was created by Redifer
Coremelt made me delete my FCPX prefs when troubleshooting their plug-in. I do not recommend anyone ever do this. Now I cannot Command+E to export. How to I regain this ability? I did not custom assign any keys or anything that that I don't think. I usually just stick with the basic keyboard mapping.

In Destiination prefs right-click on whatever you want in the sidebar and select Make Default.

It's worth having, Digital Rebellion has freebie prefs manager app for FCPX. Been using it for many years.

Preference files store information about user preferences, window layouts, toolbar placements and launch settings. Sometimes these can become corrupted, causing problems. Preference Manager allows you to trash corrupted preferences and keep backups of working preference files in order to quickly restore your settings.
