Motion Graphics Plugins was created by shaundowey
Hi
I recently bought some graphics plugins from FXFactory.Com thinking that I'd be able to import them straight into FCPX as I've done with transitions, titles etc.
However, it appears that they're only supposed to be used in Motion, and although I have Motion installed on my iMac I've never used it before.
I've emailed the guys who have designed the plugins asking if there's a way for me to import these into FCPX and use them directly from there as I would a transition or title but not had responses from either.
Can anyone here help?
Cheers
Shaun

Most plugins work in FCP X, some are specific to Motion.
What plugins specifically?

Do they come with an installer? Or are they to be manually installed?
Have you actually installed and tried with FCP X?

When I read the discriptions on the website, it's called (and sold) as Motion PROJECTS.
For instance the Thanksgiving project - ....
… hard to imagine this as an 'universal' Title plugin, allowing any text at any position... its design lives, aside typography and animation, from its layout - which gets broken when you, as an example, replace 'good' by 'extraordinairy' ..
In a Motion Project, it's easy to re-arrange the words: what you purchase is an idea of a look plus animations .... but I guess, no plugin.
correct me if I'm wrong (and tell me how it's done :silly: )

Hi Shaun,
The Thanksgiving one does look pretty specific to the message but the others look like they're designed to be modified. Have you tried dropping the folders you downloaded into your titles folder on your mac and seeing if you can access them from FCPX? Username/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles.
Try dropping the folder you unzip into there and seeing if it shows up in FCPX (I'd restart FCPX after dropping it in there).
if not, you'd just need to open in Motion and publish the parameters you want to change but seeing as it's type you might not even have to do that.
I use similar plugins from motionvfx.com who do some really great titles that are very customisable and very reasonably priced. More importantly, the designer has a very good eye so they look good. I've bought several packs. I do lots of marketing videos that need quick turnarounds and I use these type of plugins for this. Other jobs that are more bespoke, I go to After Effects.

Thanks everyone for your comments, I'll try some of the suggestions and feedback.
It's completely my fault and there was definitely assumption and lack of attention to detail on my side, I'm still learning a lot of this stuff so it's definitely an expensive lesson learned!
Cheers

hmm, well, nothing lost!
you could export from Motion your customized versions and use it as 'clips' in FCPX.
or ...
depending on your needs of customization in FCPX, e.g. that first 'hipster' title: you can simply 'publish' the text part, or additionally scaling of the graphic part to make it fit to longer/shorter titles ...
aside the one I mentioned before, 'kinetic' is another very complex layout .. hard to 'publish'/unify that. You can publish each word, but typing in any new one, or blanks, in FCPX could axe the whole design ....
