CFast 2.0 card corrupted while importing to FCPX

While importing media from CFast card, FCPX hang up and freezes. Force restart –> card no longer recognized and formatted / corrupted. No chance to mount the card on Mac or PC.

This happened several times with different Macs and two card readers but always the same card. Ingesting material from two different cameras (Canon XC10 and Canon C300 MKII).

- Atomos USB 3.0 CFast Card Reader
- Lexar Professional 3500x CFast 2.0 Card - 128 GB (approved by Canon)
- FCPX 10.2.3
- Canon XF Plugin for Final Cut Pro X 3.1

Has anyone experienced the same problem?
I'm not very keen on buying another card of the same type, before this is solved.

In Sony land we see far more failure reports of Lexar XQD media than Sony branded media and those failures are very similar to what you describe, one moment the card is working fine then next it's unresponsive and cannot be formatted or read.

A lot of people are losing confidence in Lexar media.

Thanks for the reply.

I ordered Sandisk cards now. Will see if they work better. New card reader too (Sandisk).

So it wasn't FCPX that caused this error.
Why aren't you copying the cards to the drive before you try to import? Standard recommended practice for card-based cameras.
I'd also try using the camera itself as the card reader. But I have no experience with your camera, your media , or your Mac.
