How to copy clip to another event as alias

I want to copy clips from Library A to Library B without actually copying/duplicating the source media. I want library B to reference the exact same source file as Library A.
I cannot see how to do this by dragging clips from one Library to the other from within FCPX, no matter what key combos I use. It either Copies it (fully duplicating the source file to the new Library directory) or Moves it.
However, if I go to the Finder and drag clips into FCPX while holding Option+Command, those clips stay put but are referenced in as many Libraries as I want.
The Finder option is not practical because I have hundreds of clips I need to "Copy".
Am I missing something?

You can create a new event and import your clips choosing to "leave files in place". Then your projects will be referencing the clips from their original location. If you want to use those clips in another library, just do the same import method for any events you create.

FCPX won't duplicate media, is uses soft and hard links. Don't need to create a new Event. There's a video explaining it all here.

Thanks for the video. I remember seeing that (or a similar one) a while back, and had been working under that premise. However, I recently was moving a lot of content from one Library to another (on the same physical volume) and it did in fact deplete my hard drive space, so I got paranoid. I must have done something wrong or wasn't paying attention to something.
So my last question is this: Is it a universal truth that all copied clips from library to library on the same physical volume always create hard links? Is there ever a time where it will in fact create a copy that takes up full file size on the media? This is all under the assumption that files are being managed from within FCPX (as opposed to copying files from the Finder).
