Subtitle (bug) size 4K, HD and SD
My guess: Subtitles can be visualy smaller on 4K than HD and HD subtitles smaller than SD subtitles, due to image resolution.
Is there an industry standard font size for subtitles for 4K, HD and SD? Is it the same size, but more letters on higher resolution per line?

FCP X certainly supports 4K (and beyond).

One of the easiest ways would be merely to publish the scale parameter, and let the user play with it in FCP X.
Another insteresting possibility - which you could leverage to go much further, e.g. allowing for different colors, sizes, or different bugs altogether - is to use a rig (or two or three). You could have a popup menu for "4K", "HD", "SD", and another for "Beetle", "Ladybug" or whatever. The possibilities are endless.

No.
... and depends, aside amount&complexity of text, on viewing distance not resolution, doesn't it?

Do have special different fonts for printing big posters instead of postcards?
FCPx uses vector fonts.

LOL, nice analogy...
I guess, the OP stucks in the highly academic loop, that a higher pixel-density (I'm aware - no such thing as dpi in video…) allows smaller fonts... which is, imho, for subtitles completely irrelevant... alone 'normal' viewing distance prohibits itzybitzytiny sizes...
plus, what I mentioned before:
a karoke text is bigger than some obligatory advocat-ish "model on display only on onwers expense supplementary equipment, not avail in your country....."
Font size depends on readability - which depends on content…
