Subtitles to "cover" old subtitles was created by Salas
Hi
I need to add subtitles to a mov file. The thing is it already has subtitles so I have to add a box on top of the old subtitles so you can only read new subtitles. Does anybody now how to do that in FCPX?
Thanks
David

several options ...
• put any lower-third over it which has a 'box'
• create in Motion your own lower-third with a box and design you like
• put a 'solid' generator over it, crop it, put title over that ...
• instead of a solid color, double track, apply a hefty Gaussian blur, crop to desired size, add title ....
.... as first ideas ....

Hi David
I just commented on your other post. Now I think this is related??
You said you are having pixelated BD burns, is this after you tried Karsten's suggestions?
Where are the .mov files coming from?
Why can you not just delete the existing subtitles?
Please give us as much info as you can, like where the files originated from, what version of FCPX and OS. This will help us help you.
Happy Editing
Hope this helps, Greg
