Face Morphing in FCP X?

Hey guys,

I'm new to here and new to FCP in general, but I wanted to start doing a new thing on my YouTube channel where it's like fun little skits involving 2 different characters.

The thing is I would like my characters to have different and weird face shapes (Like the filters on Snapchat that give you the weird head shapes).

Is it possible to morph your head into an effect like that with FCP?

Here's a video I did on my snapchat to show you the morphing that I was talking about.. Thanks so much guys and I'd appreciate any help you guys could offer!

Your video isn't showing up, so I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do; but if you're referring to what I think you are, it's quite complex, and you would need a plugin. I don't have any idea whether or not something like that exists.

If you just want to do something like 'photo booth' does, you can build your own effects using Motion 5's distort filters and key-framing/tracking the center point and or a mask as necessary.

Hope this helps,
-Mark

You'd probably want to apply some kind of crazy distortion filters and then track the face.

Lots of free plugins here so perhaps some kind of combination of some odd distort filter and face tracking.

for 'stills' (in both meanings), it is easy, even without Motion:

apply clip twice
zoom-in in top one
apply a custom-built (made with any 'paint'.app) image mask
....done

Or, if you own Motion (best50$ investment ever), do it in Motion, much more distortion options avail

But for moving picture, aka video, you need tracking = adjusting the position of effect...
now lil' options:
• cheap but painstaking - rotoscoping = manually adjusting frame-by-frame
• or, tracker-software = DriveX, 99$ .........
